Tourist visa β€” document checklist
  • Completed Schengen short-stay visa application, filed and signed via Romania's eViza portal (eviza.mae.ro).
  • Passport valid at least 3 months beyond departure from the Schengen area, issued within the last 10 years, with two or more blank pages, plus copies of any previous visas.
  • Two recent colour photographs, 35 x 45 mm, on a white background (Schengen/ICAO specification).
  • Travel medical insurance covering the entire Schengen area for the whole stay plus one day, with minimum coverage of EUR 30,000.
  • Confirmed return/flight tickets and a day-wise travel itinerary.
  • Proof of accommodation for the full stay (hotel bookings or a paid tourism voucher; or an invitation and sponsorship if staying with a host).
  • Proof of financial means: personal bank statements (typically the last 3-6 months) showing at least EUR 50 per day and no less than EUR 500, plus the last 2-3 years' income-tax returns (ITR).
  • Cover letter stating the purpose and duration of travel.
  • Proof of occupation: employees provide a leave/No-Objection letter and employer ID; self-employed or business owners provide company registration and GST papers; students provide a bona-fide letter; retirees provide pension proof.
  • Visa fee of EUR 80 for adults (EUR 40 for children aged 6-12; free for children under 6), plus the VFS Global service fee where the application centre is used.
  • Biometrics (ten fingerprints and a digital photograph) recorded in person at the centre; children under 12 are exempt from fingerprinting.

Business visa β€” document checklist
  • Completed Schengen short-stay visa application form, signed.
  • Passport valid at least three months beyond your planned departure from Schengen, issued within the last 10 years, with at least two blank pages, plus any old passports.
  • Two recent colour photographs to Schengen specification (35x45 mm, light background).
  • Invitation letter from the Romanian host company on its letterhead, stating the purpose and duration of the visit and who covers accommodation and costs; for business visits the invitation generally has to be approved by Romania's General Inspectorate for Immigration (IGI).
  • Covering letter from the applicant, on the Indian company's letterhead, addressed to the Visa Officer, Embassy of Romania, New Delhi, stating name, designation, passport number, purpose of travel and who bears the trip costs.
  • Proof of the business relationship (contracts, purchase orders or correspondence) and Indian company registration documents where relevant.
  • Personal and company bank statements for the last six months as proof of sufficient funds.
  • Confirmed return air tickets showing entry and exit dates, and proof of accommodation in Romania (hotel booking).
  • Travel medical insurance covering the entire Schengen area for the whole stay, with minimum EUR 30,000 cover for emergency treatment, hospitalisation and repatriation.
