Document checklists
Tourist visa β document checklist
- Valid national passport issued within the last 10 years, with at least 3 months' validity beyond your scheduled return and at least two blank pages (handwritten passports are not accepted); submit old passports too
- Completed and signed Schengen visa application form (free)
- Two recent passport photos (35 x 45 mm) on a light background, taken within the last 6 months
- Introduction/cover letter on employer letterhead, signed and stamped by HR, stating your position, length of service, a no-objection for the trip, and the travel dates and purpose
- Flight tickets naming all travellers, plus intra-Schengen flight, train or car-rental bookings where applicable
- Proof of accommodation in Switzerland/Schengen: confirmed hotel reservations, package tour or advance payments
- Travel medical insurance with minimum EUR 30,000 cover from a recognised insurer, valid across the Schengen area and covering emergency treatment and repatriation for the entire stay
- Proof of funds as originals in A4 with bank stamp and signature: last 3 months' salary slips, last 3 months' personal bank statements crediting the salary, and personal ITR (ITR-V) for the last two assessment years
- Self-employed/company owners: business registration or GST certificate / partnership deed / proof of proprietorship, plus 3 months' personal bank statements and personal ITR for two assessment years; retired: 3 months' pension bank statements and proof of regular income
- For minors under 18 not travelling with both parents: notarised consent letter from the non-travelling parent(s) plus passport/PAN copies of the parents; students aged 16+: college ID copy and an introduction letter from the school/college
Business visa β document checklist
- National passport issued within the last 10 years, valid at least three months beyond your scheduled return from the Schengen area, with at least two blank pages (handwritten passports are not accepted).
- Completed and signed Schengen (Type C) visa application form.
- One recent photograph, white background, 35β40 mm wide, not older than six months, pasted on the application form (not stapled).
- Invitation letter from the Swiss business partner or company, signed and stamped, giving the inviter's full details (name, address, email, phone), the purpose and dates, and a day-to-day schedule of the meetings or training.
- Introduction letter from your Indian employer or your own company on letterhead, signed and stamped, stating your position, length of service, the purpose and dates of travel, and whether the employer/company covers the expenses.
- For business owners / self-employed: business registration certificate, GST registration (with annexes A & B), partnership deed or proof of proprietorship.
- Personal income-tax return (ITR-V acknowledgement) for the last two assessment years and the last three months' personal bank statements (original, in A4, stamped and signed by the bank).
- Proof of sufficient funds (Swiss authorities reckon at least CHF 100 per day of stay).
- Flight tickets with the names of all travellers.
- Travel medical insurance covering the entire Schengen stay with a minimum of EUR 30,000 cover, issued by an insurer on the Embassy's approved list.
Dependent visa β document checklist
- Valid passport issued within the last 10 years, with at least two blank pages and validity extending beyond the intended stay, plus copies of the bio-data and last pages.
- Three completed and signed national (type D) visa application forms - the SEM form is free to download - with recent white-background, ICAO-standard photographs.
- Copies of your sponsor's Swiss residence or work permit and of their passport (bio-data and last page).
- A formal invitation letter from your sponsor in Switzerland stating full name, address, email and phone, together with your own personal cover letter.
- Original marriage certificate issued by the Registrar of Marriages, legalised by the competent State Home Department and then by the Ministry of External Affairs, New Delhi (for spouses/partners); a marriage deed alone is not accepted.
- Original birth certificate for each accompanying child, similarly legalised by the State Home Department and the Ministry of External Affairs.
- Police Clearance Certificate (PCC) from the police station nearest your residence or from the concerned passport office.
- Evidence of adequate accommodation in Switzerland and of sufficient income so the family will not depend on social assistance (provided by the sponsor).
- For a minor not travelling with both parents, custody or guardianship papers, and where relevant divorce or death certificates.
