Slovenia tourist visa

Slovenia runs a single mission for the whole of India - the Embassy of the Republic of Slovenia in New Delhi - and that one embassy takes every final decision. Its tourist visa is a Schengen short-stay (Type C) uniform visa: it lets an Indian passport holder travel Slovenia and the wider Schengen area for tourism for up to 90 days in any 180-day period. You lodge the file through VFS Global, which handles it on the embassy's behalf.

Apply through Slovenia when it is your main destination - the country where you spend the most days - or, if your stay splits equally across several Schengen states, wherever you first cross into the area. The visa itself is valid across all 29 Schengen countries. The embassy normally decides within around 15 calendar days of a complete submission, stretching to a maximum of 45 days when additional checks are needed. One requirement is non-negotiable: travel medical insurance with minimum EUR 30,000 cover.

  • โœ“Indian passport valid for at least 3 months beyond your planned departure from the Schengen area, issued within the last 10 years, with at least 2 blank pages.
  • โœ“Slovenia is your main destination (longest stay) or, for equally split trips, your first point of entry into the Schengen area.
  • โœ“Purpose of travel is tourism or leisure, backed by a confirmed itinerary, return travel and accommodation for the whole stay.

  • โœ“Proof of sufficient funds for the stay and demonstrable ties to India (employment, business, family or property) showing intent to return.

Visa options for Slovenia

Single-entry short-stay (Type C)

Permits one entry into the Schengen area for the approved trip dates, within the 90-days-in-180 limit. Once you exit Schengen the visa is used up.

Multiple-entry short-stay (Type C)

Allows several entries within the validity period. Under the EU Visa Code cascade, applicants with a clean prior Schengen visa history can be granted multiple-entry visas valid for 1, 2 or up to 5 years, with each stay still capped at 90 days in any 180.

Documents typically required

  • โœ“Completed, dated and signed Schengen short-stay visa application form.

Frequently asked questions

Do you guarantee the visa?

No consultant can guarantee a Schengen visa - that decision rests solely with the Embassy of Slovenia. What we do is give you a frank, honest read on your profile and build the strongest possible application. Over the last 2-3 years our applications have seen a 97% success rate.

When should I apply, and how long does it take?

File no earlier than 6 months and at least 15 calendar days before you travel. The embassy usually decides within around 15 calendar days of a complete submission; when extra checks are needed, it can run to 45 days.

Should I apply to Slovenia if my trip covers several Schengen countries?

Choose Slovenia's mission only when Slovenia is your main destination - where you spend the most days - or, when the days are equal, your first point of entry into the Schengen area. If another country is your main destination, apply to that country's mission instead.

Is travel insurance mandatory?

Yes, with no exceptions. Every applicant needs travel medical insurance valid across the whole Schengen area for the entire trip, with a minimum of EUR 30,000 cover for emergency medical treatment, hospitalisation and repatriation.
