Philippines business visa
For a short trip, an Indian passport now gets you into the Philippines with no visa at all. The 9(a) Temporary Visitor's Visa β business classification 9(a-1) Business Visitors β is what you reach for when the trip runs longer or the purpose is squarely commercial: meetings, conferences, negotiations, market research and the like, provided no Philippine entity is paying you for the work. Since 26 November 2024, Indians applying from within India can secure it online through the government e-Visa portal, evisa.gov.ph. The Philippine Embassy in New Delhi still issues the traditional stickered 9(a-1) business visa as well.
Here is the detail worth knowing. Since 8 June 2025, Indian nationals may enter visa-free for tourism or business for a non-extendible, non-convertible 14 days β stretched to 30 days if you hold a valid US, Japanese, Australian, Canadian, Schengen, Singapore or UK visa or residence permit. So the 9(a) only earns its keep once your business stay outlasts that free window. A single-entry visa must be used to enter within 3 months of issuance; a multiple-entry visa runs for 6 months or 1 year. Either way, immigration sets your actual stay on arrival β up to 59 days per entry.
Who this visa is for
- βIndian passport holders travelling for scientific, commercial, industrial, professional or business purposes who will not receive compensation from a company or entity in the Philippines for services rendered there.
- βBusiness owners, partners or company representatives attending meetings, conferences, negotiations, trade events or market research.
- βManagerial-level (or higher) employees travelling on behalf of their employer.
- βApplicants whose business stay will exceed the 14-day visa-free entry (or the 30-day entry available to holders of a valid US, Japanese, Australian, Canadian, Schengen, Singapore or UK visa/residence permit) and who need up to 59 days.
- βApplicants with no derogatory record with the Philippine Bureau of Immigration. This visa does not authorise taking up paid employment in the Philippines.

The 9(a) e-Visa is open only to Indian nationals applying from within India, and it does not guarantee admission β the Bureau of Immigration officer at the port of entry has the final say, and the e-Visa's authorised stay cannot be extended or converted to another visa type inside the Philippines. Apply before you travel if the business stay will run past the 14-day visa-free window.
Frequently asked questions
Do I even need a visa for a short business trip to the Philippines?
Often, no. Since 8 June 2025, Indian passport holders can enter visa-free for business or tourism for a non-extendible, non-convertible 14 days β provided your passport stays valid at least six months beyond the stay and you can show confirmed accommodation, proof of financial capacity and a return or onward ticket. Hold a valid US, Japanese, Australian, Canadian, Schengen, Singapore or UK visa or residence permit, and that window opens to 30 days. Anything longer, and you apply for the 9(a) visa before you fly.
Should I apply for the e-Visa or the embassy sticker visa?
You have two routes. Since 26 November 2024, Indians applying from within India can get the 9(a) Temporary Visitor's Visa online at the official portal, evisa.gov.ph. The Philippine Embassy in New Delhi also issues the stickered 9(a-1) business visa. Both cover the same business activities; we read your travel dates and profile and tell you which one fits.
How long can I stay on a 9(a) business visa?
Up to 59 days per entry, with the immigration officer setting the exact figure when you land. A single-entry visa must be used to enter within 3 months of issuance; a multiple-entry visa stays valid for 6 months or 1 year. One caveat: the e-Visa's authorised stay cannot be extended or converted to another visa type once you are inside the Philippines.
Do you guarantee the visa?
No β and be wary of anyone who says otherwise. The decision rests entirely with the Philippine Embassy/Consulate and, at the border, the Bureau of Immigration; even a valid visa does not guarantee admission. What we do is give you a frank, honest assessment of your case and prepare the strongest possible application. Over the last 2β3 years, our applications have a 97% success rate.
