Croatia business visa

Croatia has been a full Schengen member since 1 January 2023, which means one visa now does the work of many: the uniform short-stay visa (Type C). For an Indian passport holder, it opens the door to meetings, conferences, trade fairs and negotiations for up to 90 days in any 180-day period, and lets you cross into the rest of the Schengen area on the same sticker. What it will not do is let you take up paid employment in Croatia.

Where you file matters. You apply through a Croatian mission when Croatia is your main destination β€” the country where you spend the most time β€” or, when no single country dominates the trip, your first point of entry. From India, that means one of the VFS Global centres in New Delhi, Mumbai, Kolkata, Chennai, Bengaluru and Hyderabad, or the Embassy of the Republic of Croatia in New Delhi. The consulate weighs each case on its own merits, and its clock runs at roughly 30 calendar days, occasionally stretching to 45.

Who this visa is for

  • βœ“Indian passport holders (and third-country nationals legally resident in India) travelling to Croatia for business activities such as meetings, conferences, trade fairs and negotiations, not for paid work.
  • βœ“Croatia is your main destination, or your first Schengen entry point when no single main destination applies.
  • βœ“Passport valid at least 3 months beyond your planned departure from the Schengen area, issued within the last 10 years, with at least two blank pages.
  • βœ“A genuine business invitation from a Croatian host company and a demonstrable business relationship.
  • βœ“Proof of sufficient funds for the stay and travel medical insurance of at least EUR 30,000 covering the Schengen area.
  • βœ“Clear intention and ties to India (employment, family, assets) showing you will leave within the 90-day limit.

Visa options for Croatia

Short-stay visa (C) - single entry

One trip into the Schengen area; the visa is used up once you exit, even if the full 90 days are not used.

Short-stay visa (C) - multiple entry

Several trips within its validity; issued for 1, 2 or up to 5 years for frequent, bona fide business travellers, with the 90-days-in-180 limit applying throughout.

Airport transit visa (A)

For changing flights inside a Croatian international airport transit zone without entering Schengen; rarely needed for business travel.

Your exact checklist depends on your profile β€” we confirm it during your case analysis. Every visa decision rests with the embassy or consulate.

Applications are lodged at the VFS Global centres in New Delhi, Mumbai, Kolkata, Chennai, Bengaluru and Hyderabad, or at the Embassy of the Republic of Croatia in New Delhi (A-15, West End, New Delhi 110021). You can file up to six months before travel and, as a rule, no later than 15 calendar days before departure β€” but apply well ahead, since the consulate can extend processing to 45 days. First-time Schengen applicants must give their fingerprints in person.

Frequently asked questions

Do you guarantee the visa?

No one can guarantee a visa, and anyone who promises otherwise is not being straight with you. The decision rests solely with the Croatian embassy or consulate. What we do is read your case honestly and build the strongest, most complete application possible. Over the last 2-3 years, our applications have had a 97% success rate.

Must I apply through Croatia's mission, or can I use another Schengen country?

Route it to Croatia when Croatia is your main destination β€” the country where you spend the most time β€” or, when no single country stands out, your first point of entry. If another Schengen state is really your main destination, that country handles the application instead.

How long does processing take?

Croatia's consulate works to a standard of around 30 calendar days from the moment it receives a complete application, and can push that to 45 days in individual cases. Lodge yours well ahead: you may file up to six months before the trip and, as a rule, no later than 15 calendar days before departure.

Can I work in Croatia on this visa?

No. The Schengen short-stay (Type C) business visa covers business activity β€” meetings, conferences, trade fairs and negotiations β€” and nothing more. It does not permit employment in Croatia. Paid work needs a separate work and residence permit, which we do not handle.
